Violeta Dinescu – composition

Violeta Dinescu was born in Bucharest in 1953. She studied composition, among other subjects, at the Ciprian-Porumbescu Conservatory in Bucharest under the guidance of Myriam Marbe. Violeta Dinescu has lived in Germany since 1982. After holding teaching posts at the High School for Evangelical Church Music in Heidelberg, at the High School for Music and the Performing Arts and at the Academy for Evangelical Church Music in Bayreuth, she has been professor of applied composition at the Carl von Ossietzky University in Oldenburg since 1996. She frequently holds courses for various universities and institutions both in and beyond Germany. Her catalogue includes numerous compositions of highly differing genres, from solo pieces to oratorios, operas, ballets and music for silent films. She has won many international prizes and awards for her compositions.
